What we fix
Everything in your house that runs on water.
Eight services, one licensed crew, and vans stocked for the common jobs so most fixes happen on the first visit. Not sure what you need? Use the problem picker and we'll point you the right way.
Water damage gets more expensive by the hour. If anything on the left is happening, stop reading and call. Everything on the right can wait for a booked window.
No hourly meter running in your kitchen. We diagnose, show you what we found, and give you a flat price for each way to fix it. You pick. Then we work.
Flat price, not the clockThe number covers parts and labor. If the job runs long, that's on us.
Options, never pressureUsually two or three ways to fix it, from the minimum to the long-term fix.
Found something else? We stop.We show you, price it, and you decide. Nothing gets added quietly.

Water heaters
Tank or tankless? Here's the honest version.
Both are good. The right one depends on how many people shower in the morning and what you want to spend up front. Answer two questions.
People in the house
What matters most?
Our pick for youA 50-gallon tank
Lowest cost to install and usually a same-day swap. Plenty for a family of four.
Our pick for you
Tank
40–75 gallons stored hot and ready. The classic, and still the right call for a lot of homes.
Upfront
Lower. Usually a straight swap with no gas or vent changes.
Lifespan
8–12 years with a yearly flush.
Hot water
A full tank, then 30–60 minutes to recover.
Energy
Keeps the tank hot around the clock.
Space
A closet or garage corner.
Install
Same day in most cases. We carry 40 and 50 gallon.
Our pick for you
Tankless
Heats water only when a tap opens. Wall-mounted, and it doesn't run out.
Upfront
Higher. Often needs a bigger gas line and new venting.
Lifespan
15–20 years with a yearly descale.
Hot water
On demand, all day. Limited by flow, not by a tank.
Energy
No standby heating. Lower monthly gas use.
Space
About the size of a carry-on, on the wall.
Install
One day, including gas and vent work when needed.
We check your gas line size and venting on site before we quote. Not sure? A water-heater visit includes both options, priced.Price my water heater

About Tidewell
One van, one rule, since 2013.
Samuel Okafor spent eight years running service calls for a big franchise outfit, where techs earned bonuses for what they sold, not what they fixed. In 2013 he put his own name on a license, bought one van, and made one rule: the customer approves the price before the work starts.
Thirteen years and more than 4,100 jobs later, Tidewell is a small crew of licensed plumbers based in Greensboro. Samuel still trains every new hire himself and still takes the hard calls: the slab leaks, the 1970s galvanized repipes, the water heater wedged into an attic.

"Water heater died on a Sunday night. Called at 7:02 Monday and their plumber was in our garage by 10 with a new 50-gallon on the van. The price was on the tablet before he touched anything, and that's exactly what we paid."

"Slab leak under the kitchen. They found it with a listening device in about 40 minutes instead of jackhammering half the floor."

"He told me the disposal only needed the reset key and a hex wrench, showed me how, and didn't try to sell me a new one. That's why they'll get every call from this house."

"We repiped our 1978 house with PEX. Two days, two plumbers, and the drywall patches were neater than I expected. They covered every floor and the furniture."

"Main line backed up into the tub the night before Thanksgiving. Camera showed roots near the cleanout. Cleared, filmed, and they texted me the video for my records."

"We went tankless after Samuel walked us through the numbers. He was upfront that our gas line needed upsizing and the quote already included it. No surprises, and hot water for four kids, finally."

"Kitchen sink had drained slow for months. Thirty minutes with the cable and it's like new. Fair price, and he explained what not to put down it."

"Whole-house filter plus a reverse osmosis tap under the sink. They walked me through the filter schedule and texted a reminder six months later. Small thing, but nobody else does that."

"Three plumbers quoted our shower valve. Tidewell wasn't the cheapest, but they were the only ones who explained why the cheap fix would fail again."

"Booked online at 6 PM, got a text the next morning with the plumber's photo and arrival window. Felt like a real company, not a guy with a truck."

Service area
Based in Greensboro. On the road from Burlington to Winston-Salem.
Vans start the day spread across Guilford County, so a same-day window is the norm in every city below, Monday through Saturday.
Your plumber diagnoses the problem, shows you what they found, and gives you a flat price for each way to fix it, parts and labor included. You choose one and approve it on the tablet. If the job takes longer than expected, the price doesn't change.
Is there a charge just to come out?
There's a visit fee to diagnose the problem, and it's quoted on the phone before we book. When you go ahead with a repair on the same visit, it's credited to the repair.
Do you handle emergencies?
Yes, Monday through Saturday from 7 AM to 7 PM. Active leaks, bursts and sewer backups jump the line ahead of booked work. If water is coming through a ceiling, shut the main valve and call.
Are you licensed and insured?
Tidewell Plumbing holds North Carolina plumbing contractor license #9105012, and we carry general liability and workers' comp. Every plumber on our crew is background-checked.
Should I repair or replace my water heater?
If the tank itself is leaking, it's a replacement. If it's a thermocouple, igniter, valve or element and the unit is under about 8 years old, a repair usually makes sense. We'll price both so you can decide.
How long does a whole-home repipe take?
Most single-story homes take two days and two-story homes take three. You'll have running water each night. We patch the drywall openings and handle the permit and city inspection.
